But if your appliance is seriously smelly and you can’t wait for our next day delivery, here is a guide on how to get rid of bad smells in your washing machine:

What is the cause of the foul smell from my washing machine?

A commonly reported problem with washing machines is that they are prone to a build-up of greasy deposits and bad bacteria, this bad bacteria is what causes the smells, the bacteria also rots the rubber seal on the door. Another cause of bad odours could also be black mould.

Maintenance Washes

We live in a world where everyone has become eco-friendly now, so hot washes are not the norm, but you can blame the decline in the number of hot washes you are using for your smelly washing machine. Hot water helps to kill bacteria and remove grease from the inside of your washing machine.

So, one of the first things you should try is putting your machine on a boil wash cycle, use a little washing detergent, but make sure you do not put any laundry in your machine. If your washing machine has thick layers of grease and grime you may need to do this a couple of times.

Vinegar

White distilled vinegar is a great natural cleaning product and has thousands of uses around the home. Try putting 100ml of white vinegar into an empty washing machine and putting it on a boil wash, add another 100ml of vinegar about 10mins into the wash to make sure the vinegar is distributed around the whole machine.
