Posted by

In part two of our RAC Cleaning Guides we guide you through cleaning the outside of your car. what you will need:

Once you have gather all of the materials needed for cleaning your car exterior you can finally start washing your car.

Correct Conditions

You should always be careful not to wash your car on a day that the sun is shining too brightly, as this will cause soap to dry out on your car and leave behind strange looking patches on your paintwork. If it is sunny you should try to move your car into the shade whilst cleaning it.

Pre-Wash

You should start the cleaning by using a hose, or if you do not have access to a hose, using a few buckets of water, just wet your car to dislodge any surface-level dirt.

The next step is to use your brush and scrub your wheels quickly, this will just stop any large amounts of dirt being spread around the surface of your vehicle.

Shampoo

You can now follow the instructions on the back of the RAC Premium Shampoo Label. make sure that you don't miss anywhere, it may not be too noticeable now, but when the rest of your car is gleaming, the area you have missed will stick out like a sore thumb.

Wheels

Once you have finished with the shampoo you can now pay some much needed attention to your wheels. If you have alloy wheels you can now begin to use RAC Alloy Wheel Cleaner. If you do not have alloy wheels on your car you can continue using RAC Premium car shampoo on your wheels as the formulation makes plastic hubs look great! when cleaning your wheels you can make use of a detailing brush or an old toothbrush to get into the hard to reach areas.

Drying

Now you can dry your car off by using a leather chamois or an clean rag.

Polish

Now for the polish to give your car that showroom finish. Make sure that you follow the directions for the RAC Car Polish correctly and you will have an absolutely gleaming car.

Finishing Touches

Now finish off by using some RAC Spray and Shine to protect your cars paintwork from the elements.
